Neighborhood Maintenance
Trash Pickup
Materials such as appliances, mattresses, carpet, building materials, etc. must be handled by scheduling a pickup with Waste Management. The town dœs not pick up these items. Remember that trash should not be put out until the day before scheduled collection and trash containers should be removed from the front yard by the end of the day of pickup.
Yard Debris
During spring and summer months, yard debris put out in containers is picked up by the town on a weekly basis. Small piles of loose debris will not be collected. Do not use plastic bags for yard debris. The town dœs not pick up grass clippings.
Do not place branches, leaves, or other yard debris on our streets. Help keep our storm drains clear and streets safe for walkers and bikers!
For more information on yard debris and leaf pickup, visit the Town of Brighton interactive page at https://www.townofbrighton.org/516/Leaf-and-Yard-Debris-Collection
Street/Front Yard Parking
On-street parking is prohibited from 2AM-7AM between November 1 and April 15 in order to facilitate snow removal. Offending vehicles can be ticketed or towed. Vehicles cannot be parked on grass.
Peeling Paint
Exterior surfaces should be maintained in a neat, orderly, and serviceable manner.
Recycling
The neighborhood’s waste management company also picks up household recycling including paper/cardboard and cans. Plastics are only recycled based on shape and not based on the “chasing arrows” recycling symbol. Only plastic tubs, bottles, jugs, and jars are able to be recycled. For more information, please visit Monroe County, NY – Residential Curbside Recycling at https://www.monroecounty.gov/des-residentialrecycling
Lawns
Lawns should not be allowed to grow taller than 6” in height. Bushes obstructing the sidewalks must be cut back to keep the sidewalks clear. All land must be kept free of brush, dead trees, branches, trash, etc. that present a fire or vermin hazard. Your cooperation in keeping our neighborhood beautiful is appreciated.
